Wayside Americana Daylily

‘Wayside Americana’ daylily is a true beauty. Large, rich red blooms and a yellow throat, along with good branching and sturdy scapes, make it a welcome addition to any garden. A favorite of those of us at Oakes Daylilies.

Stunning red blooms are 5" wide and outlined in a creamy near white. Sturdy scapes reach 32" tall in our East Tennessee garden.

As a mid season bloomer, we begin to see the arresting blooms of Wayside Americana around the middle of June. If you live to our north, you'll see them a bit after we do. If you live to our south, you'll notice them a couple of weeks before us.

Wayside Americana is a dormant daylily. That means it is best grown in areas that receive a sustained winter cold period like those in zones 8 and lower.

Looks fantastic en masse or when paired with yellow or gold daylilies. Planted with near white really brings out the soft creamy edge on these bright red blooms. Gorgeous!

Wobbly and Poor Design

Update: nope! Not worth the money. My cat simply brushed against the divider, and it fell, knocking breakable things over. Not safe! It serves it's purpose, but...the screws were basically glued to the packaging. It took me longer to get the screws out of the packaging than it did to put it together. The assembly was easy. I am not mechanically inclined by any means, but the instructions, despite being very hard to read (I have over 40 eyes), were pretty simple. Structurally, it is very wobbly. I think they should have designed it with a middle rod to keep it more stable. I find that the attachments to the rods are wobbly and should have been screwed rather than popped into an attachment hole without reinforcement. That would have also made the room divider more stable. I have cats, but the material is easy to clean. I took a damp cloth to it, and it came right off. As far as see-through...I think it does a great job of masking theO other side of the room.. I just wish it was a little longer and closer to the floor stand. I like that it came with extra parts. It's just a very cheaply made item, and I don't think the price for the item reflects how cheaply it is made, how wobbly and unstable it is, or the poor design.
